Why do people hate death metal?

I wouldn't say hate. Its more contempt. I used to be kinda like you, I loved "underground" metal but then I got over that phase. Death metal in general is just amusing; its funny how kiddies develop a sense of superiority not realizing how juvenile and silly their music is.
