Ongoing situation with my friend (story inside) WORRIED ABOUT MY FRIEND?

Ok, so I have this friend who has this boyfriend that has very impulsive behavior. He spends money on accessories instead of necessities and thinks food is not important. Since he has money spending issues, he has not eaten everyday. Maybe a couple of times a week. He is very angry and apathetic and hides stuff all the time from my friend. He does not cheat. He just doesn't like confrontation. Believe me, no one would wanna screw him. He is not attractive at all. She tries and tries very hard to push him to care about himself. Not only that but he may have an ulcer in his stomach and other issues along with that. For Valentines Day, he bought her a phone while his truck is in the shop when she specifically told him "don't buy me stuff I don't need". She was hoping to get something romantic from him but she is his first girlfriend. The problem is she has nowhere else to stay at this time and she has been looking for a job since October and has had no such luck. She loves him to death and wants this relationship to work but he is making it very very hard. She feels like she has to walk around egg shells all the time with him so he does not snap. What should she do? How can she handle her boyfriend since he is so stubborn? She has been going insane lately, because of these daily issues with her boyfriend. I am worried about her!!!!
