I am an lpn and recently got accepted to the surgical tech program. would anyone suggest doing this?

I plan on going back afterwards and getting my rn but I do not want to be burned out. Should I work a little and then continue to get my rn or should I get my surgical tech which takes a year and then get my rn. I also have a 5 year old son and I do not want to feel like I am neglecting him because I am trying to better myself.
